RSGB Contest Results 144MHz May Contest 2018

After last year's jump in entries, I'm pleased to report entry levels have not only held up but have increased again, from 93 last year to 101 this year. Many commented on the increase in activity, with 862 different callsigns appearing in the submitted logs. For once in this contest conditions and WX were reasonable, especially on the Sunday. Dan OZ1BEF was worked by many stations for their ODX.

In the Open section, last year's winners, Reigate ATS and Crawley ARC G3M, have been pushed down into second place by this year's winners, Blacksheep CG, G8T. Both stations managed to work as far as OE, well over 900Kms.

In the Single Operator Fixed Section, this year's winner is David, G4ASR, with last year's winner, Roger G3MEH in second place. Other certificate winners were Frank, PE1EWR who was, yet again, the highest placed non-UK entry and Graham G3YJR the highest placed low-power/single antenna entry, with an excellent score running only 4 Watts.

Mick, M0ICK/P is once again the leading station in the SO section, that's five years on the run now, an excellent achievement, although this year's second placed entry from Eddie, G0EHV/P was not far behind.

Once again the most popular section this year is the 6 hour fixed station section with 45 entries. This year's winner is John G0ODQ with Tony GW8ASD in second place. Certificates also go to Gordon G3WJG, the highest placed entrant running low power and a single antenna, Phil 2E0GDP the top Intermediate Licensee and Sue, M6XAK the highest placed Foundation Licensee.

A very impressive score from GM6MD/P, operated by Alex GM4NFC and Iain MM0TFU tops the 6 hour Open Section from Chris and Pauline Kirby, G4FZN and G8HQW operating G4FZN/P.

Congratulations to all certificate winners and let's hope next year's contest is blessed with similar good weather and fine conditions.
