1^st 144MHz Backpackers Contest - 17^th May 2026

The 1^st Backpackers competition saw 27 logs submitted in the two sections 5B, 12 logs, 25H, 11 logs and 4 Check logs. Reading through the soapboxes the conditions were mostly flat with evidence of sharp QSB which is so often the case at 144MHz.

This is the first of the five competitions that make up the Championship so these results also dictate the Championship table.

In section 5B, GW1YBB/P was first with an impressive points tally nearly double the second placed G4TCU/P who narrowly pipped G4XZL/P to see them into third spot.

In section 25H, G0EAK/P sored nicely over the second placed G4GFI/P who, as in the 5B section is only a little ahead of third placed G8BGV/P.

Of course championship points do rather level the playing field so no resting on those laurels as huge leads in individual contests do not mean huge leads in championship points.
