3rd Backpackers Contest 2025

In a repeat of the corresponding event in 2024, 13 stations submitted entries. The weather, often reported as wet and windy with the added complication of thunderstorms, added to the challenges of portable operation so congratulations to all who braved the elements.

21 stations from 6 DXCCs outside of the UK (DL, EI, F, HB9, ON and PA) provided the main interest with 2 German stations giving the highest ODX of the whole contest to two stations in the Backpackers event: GW1YBB/P with DL0GM (756 kms) and G4XZL/P with DR2X (748 kms).

A further similarity with last year is that, in winning the 5B event, Steve GW1YBB/P has cemented his overall victory for the series.  The first placed station in the Hilltoppers section was Martin, G4GFI who repeated his success of the first outing.  He is thus favourite to sit at the top of the table at the end of the series although this is by no means a 'done deal'.

Congratulations to all the certificate winners, and I hope to see and hear you all for the 4th event in the series on Saturday 2nd August commencing at 1400 UTC.
