2026 6m CW CONTEST - 28/6/2026
The number of entries in the 2026 6m CW Contest was, at 17 (11 in section AR, 5 in section AO and 1 in section AL), down by 39% down on 2025, which had in its turn been down on 2024. The number of different calls appearing in entrants' logs was 55, down by 24% on 2025. However the number of big squares appearing in in entrants' logs was up by 8% on 2025 at 27, from the same number of DXCCs as last year at 10 (CT, DL, EA, F, G, GM. GU, GW, HB9 and I). The best DX was between G3TBK/P in IO93 square and CT1DJE in IN58 at 1917km - one of ten best DXs at over 1000km compared with four in 2025.
Entrants' comments largely bear out the figures, particularly on the low level of entries. Conditions seem to have been regarded as rather better than in 2025, but rather odd, with weak UK signals but a sprinkling of sporadic E and a limited amount of scatter to the south from DL and HB: one entrant noted almost auroral characteristics on some signals.
The choice of antennas is interesting, with a significant degree of adhoc-ery in addition to the usual Yagi types. These included 4 dipoles (one of which was for 40m and one in the entrant's loft) and also one 102ft bent doublet. Full marks for innovation.....
Congratulations to the certificate winners, and thanks to all entrants.
