70MHz CW CONTEST - 10/5/2026

The total number of entries, and their distribution between sections, in the 2026 70MHz CW Contest were very similar to last year, with 25 entrants overall ( the same as in 2025), 12 in section AO (thirteen in 2025), nine in section AR (the same as 2025) and four in section AL (three in section AL). However some other aspects were significantly different.

Conditions, while not exactly sparkling, were generally reported as better than in 2025 with comments that were more upbeat - 'average' and 'rather poor' were typical, although some MS bursts did help things along. However activity was considered poor, particularly from EU. Two stations made contacts with a DL station - but unfortunately these had to be disallowed as 70MHz is not currently available to German stations. Contacts with 15 big squares (five down on 2025) and 31 postcodes (six up on 2025) appear in the logs. The best DX was again between GM4ZUK/P in IO86 and GU3TUX in IN89 at 802km. GM4ZUK/P is also to be congratulated on again winning the Bill Capstick, G3JYP, Memorial Award as leading entrant.
