RSGB Contest Results Autumn Series DATA 2020
v4.158 by G4CLA

The third and final round of the Autumn Data series took place on the 2nd of November and attracted 175 logs demonstrating the continued popularity of the weekday short form contest.

Entrants should be aware that the contest committee do record this and other contests to ensure compliance with the rules such as the Le Mans start and over running QSOs (completed outside the contest time period). A QSO to be valid MUST be completed before the end of the contest period. Appropriate penalties are applied for such infringements of the rules.

Entrants reported poor conditions for the contest making QSOs difficult and favouring longer distance paths. It is noticeable that the QSO rate is lower than usually seen. Despite that entrants battled on in true spirit to make the best of the situation. QRP stations in particular were struggling with the propagation which shows in the numbers of QSO logged. So now to the results.

The Unassisted sections are considerably more popular with entrants and so has seen the closest of battles for the top spot. In the 100W-Assisted G3TBK takes first place with a solid performance across the three tests whilst in the 100W-Unassisted where competition has been keenest, M0NKR jumps two places to claim the title with M9A with an excellent final entry finishing in second place. G4RCG who had the lead was knocked back to third place.

Turning to the 10w sections, in the 10W-Assisted, M0VAA retained his iron grip on first place despite a late push from G4ZFE to jumps to second place forcing G6EES back into third. Meanwhile in the 10W-Unassisted section G4PIQ with an excellent final score leaps to first place pushing M0RYP back into second place which in turn knocked G0GDU back into third.

It is really exciting to see entrants in close competition and the unassisted section has not disappointed this year.

G6XX was on air once again and this time operated by Nick Totterdell G4FAL the HF Contest Committee Chair. Our thanks to him for operating the station for the final data round.

With this test the Autumn series beings drawing to a close. With two competitions left to go, it remains to be seen if the current leaders of the General Section - Norfolk ARC and the Local Section - Bristol CG remain in first place. There is all to play for.
