RSGB Contest Results 1st 1.8MHz Contest 2013

Congratulations again to G4PIQ who just stayed ahead of G4FNL, to take the Somerset Trophy for overall winner.  The top three UK stations were mixed mode this year with G4ASR taking overall third.  Close on his heels was G3BJ who takes the certificate for top CW station followed by G4FAL and G3LDI.  M0UKD was top SSB station.

EI5DI heads up the overseas entry once more, this time followed by LY7M and OK5ET. All the three top spots were CW only entries. PA0MIR is the leading mixed mode entry and there was just one station in the SSB category.

G3BJ made a significant number of QSOs with North America and a few others made a handful, but generally DX conditions were quite poor.  Only about twenty North American call signs appearing in logs and many of these just made a single QSO.

The level of CW operation remains high compared to SSB and stations from the Netherlands provide a good proportion of the QSOs as this contest coincides with the Dutch PACC multimode event. Some Overseas stations noted that they would like to see more activity from the UK.
