2nd 1.8 MHz contest 2025

The final event of this year's HF Championship attracted just 63 entries and 6 checklogs, the lowest total for this event for 20 years. The low activity was noted by some in the soapboxes, and other concurrent contests were not always seen to be advantageous.

As seems normal in these contests, DX was in very short supply but there was widespread participation from Europe with 14 DXCCs submitting entries and a further 13 appearing in the logs.

We often see that contest trophies are won by the same station or AFS on consecutive years, sometimes for many years in a row. The incredible achievement of Clive, GM3POI (who won the Victor Desmond Trophy, awarded to the highest scoring UK & CD station, 12 times during the period 1996-2010) is a case in point. However, in more recent times, this event has become more competitive, there being 7 different winners in the last 10 years (including Clive, three times!). This year saw Andy, G4PIQ, a previous winner in 2022, take home the honours by winning the Unassisted section

The next 1.8 MHz contest is on Saturday 14 February 2026 commencing at 2000 UTC.
