RSGB 3.5MHz CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

Another 80m CC series has come to a close and has produced the closest finish EVER in the history of the event.

In the General Club category, Three As Contest Group secured the G5RV Trophy with a lead of just 1112 points (out of a total of 174,000+) over second-placed Norfolk ARC. It was nip-and-tuck throughout the series with the Norfolk contingent of 39 members set against the Three As team of 23 dedicated contesters. Both teams worked so hard that it is a shame that one of them had to lose out ... however it does show that it IS possible to challenge the big contest groups. Perhaps next year!

Grimsby ARS take third place ahead of De Montfort University and Newbury.

Things are rather more cut-and-dried in the Local Club category:

Tall Trees CG managed to turn out 12 members to secure the Horace Freeman Trophy by a comfortable margin from runners-up Horsham ARC.

Third-placed Torbay ARS were the leaders of a closely-packed peloton but crossed the line safely at the head of the crowd.

The Contests Committee wishes to thank especially the substantial number of Non-UK stations that regularly participate in the 80mCC contests. This year a full suite of certificates has been issued in respect of their contribution.

And so onwards to the Club Sprints, 160m Club Calls and, eventually, the 2016 80m AFS Contests and the new series of Club Championship events. Hope to see you all there.
