RSGB 80/40m CW AFS Contest ;

For  the second year this no holds barred contest was run on a Saturday and 1pm start. One or two comments were received  not liking  the Saturday and again  40m band conditions favoured much longer distances and signals inter-G were weak . Some stations worked the other EU PMC contest stations and correctly recorded  their exchange or logged 0 as per the rules.Signals from Scotland and Europe  were very strong on 40m. Most UK stations therefore again migrated  quickly to 80m , with a few returning to 40m later, or using SO2R operation to add both band contacts.Participation has remained steady with 212 logs entered, including 29 non UK logs.Conditions for DX on 40m were good at the start and many USA stations were worked , plus many East Europeans and Russians, plus VE6, ZB2,ZC4,VK2,VK5,9K2,HS0.The leading stations reported being busy right to the end of  the contest, making it most enjoyable. This year 21 General Club and  55 Local Clubs  entered, only very slightly down on 2019.

Like last year the scores have been divided into three power categories, with certificates for the highest numeric teams in each category.The highest scoring local club was again Aberdeen ARS' A, and the highest General Club entry was again Three A's  A, who also win the Edgware Trophy for the highest club score. The first placed individual score went to GM4Z, operated  by GM4ZUK who wins the Marconi Trophy, just ahead of G4PIQ.In the other power sections,  the leading 100W station was G4FNL, just ahead of M1X, and leading 10W station G4ENZ  just ahead of M0RYB/P. The leading non UK station was DL4CF, just ahead of last years winner DL6KVA.

Certificates have again been awarded to the leading club stations, both General and Local, and to the leading 3 station, 2 station and a single station teams.
