The RSGB 80/40m CW AFS Contest 2026

This contest was less supported than 2025, with 186 logs, 20 down on last year, and a Non UK&CD entry of 11 logs, also down on last year. Maybe the bad weather played a factor.80m did not open till after 1500, but the 40m band conditions were reported as good throughout. Many UK stations again worked continentals who were participating in various other contests on 40m. Northern UK stations suffered from poor conditions to the UK. However a few stations worked W6/7, and also 5B4AGN and 9H1PI.

The Individual scores have been divided into the three power categories, plus non-UK entries. The highest scoring local club this year was Cray Valley RS 'A', who also win the Edgware Trophy for the highest club score. This is a great result for a local club compared to the usual win by a general club. They were followed by Camb-Hams 'A', and then Bristol CG 'A'. The highest general Club entry was again Three A's CG 'A'. They were followed by Three A's CG 'B', then Three A's CG 'C', a clean sweep for Three 'A's. Several clubs managed full 'B' team entries, with Camb-Hams 'B' achieving 9th place in the Local section ahead of Norfolk 'B' in 12th. In the general section Three 'A' s B and Demontfort Uni ARS B had full high scoring teams. Congratulations also to M1GEO and M8L (G8LNR) for a first time entry.

The first placed individual score went to G4PIQ, who wins the Marconi Trophy, followed by G4BUO, then G9W (M0DXR) in the 1000 w section. G4PIQ actually started late but found many contacts in the last 30 minutes. In the other power sections, the leading 100W station was GW5P (GW0EGH), ahead of G4PVM and G3BOY (G0CKP), The leading 10W station was G3SWC, ahead of M5D (G4WQI) and M7R (G0TPH).The leading non UK station was PA2A, ahead of SN1T (SP1NQN) and SF6W (SM6EWB)The leading intermediate station was 2E0YEM.

In the AFS Super League table, after 5 of 8 events, Camb-Hams lead Spalding DARS in the Local section, and Addiscombe ARC lead Harwell ARS in the general section.

Certificates have again been awarded to the leading club stations, both General and Local, and to the leading 3 station, 2 station and a single station club teams.
