RSGB Contest Results AFS Contest DATA 2020
v4.158 by G4CLA

The 2020 run of the RSGB Affiliated Societies Data contest attracted a total of 167 entries up from the 155 received last year across the four sections. The AFS contest series is one of the most closely fought in the RSGB calendar and this year was no exception. It was gratifying to see 17 entries from non-UK stations with the bulk being PAs. Naturally enough the most popular section was the 100w. As is usual with AFS the cut and thrust of competition was in evidence. 40m proved a difficult band for some this year. On the whole the entrants enjoyed the contest with a total of 17420 QSOs claimed.

In the General Club section De Montfort University ARS A team slipped from the top spot allowing last year's runner up, Three As CG A team, to claim 1st position. The RSGB Contest Club took 3rd place.

In the Local Club Section Camb-Hams A team climbed from last year's 3rd place to seize 1st pushing Grimsby ARS A team back to 2nd place. The Tall Trees CG A team improved on their 5th place of last year to take the 3rd and final podium position.

Turning now to the Individual table results. The 400w section GM4Z (GM4ZUK) took the top spot with a nice 22 point lead over MW2I (G4BVY & G4FRE). G4RFE claimed the 3rd spot.

The 100w section saw G4FNL claim 1st place with G4ZFE and G1P tying for 2nd place.

In the 10w section G4ENZ came 1st with a score that would have seen him in 2nd place in the 100w section, a fine effort indeed. Next was G3SWC who only just pipped M0RYB and G4ABX by one point to claim 2nd place. M0RYB and G4ABX came home in joint 3rd place.

In the Non-UK station table saw all three podium places go to PA stations. PA3DDU taking 1st place with a good margin over PA7WW, 2nd place, who narrowly beat PA3DBS into 3rd place. It is gratifying to see many familiar call signs from overseas who regularly support the RSGB data modes contests throughout the year.

Congratulations to the Three As CG A team who lift the AFS Club Data Challenge Trophy as winning team, and to GM4Z (GM4ZUK) who is awarded the AFS Data Challenge Trophy as Highest Individual UK&CD Score.

The RSGB Contest committee extends its thanks to all who entered and hope to see you all again in 2021.
