RSGB Contest Results AFS Contest PHONE 2020
v4.158 by G4CLA

For once inter-UK&CD propagation on 80m seemed to be good for most entrants from start to finish with the added bonus of the skip lengthening for some European contacts in the last two hours.  On 40m propagation again favoured stations away from the UK centres of population but the popular HA DX contest provided many additional contacts on this band.  Some DX to the east was found on 40m in the form of UA9, UP0 and YB, later on 3 x W7 in Washington State and a VK6 were worked in the last half hour.  Good to see a few first timers taking part.

Entrants are again reminded to observe the frequency limits specified in the rules, particularly for 80m, a few QSOs were invalidated where points were claimed for contacts made above 3775kHz.

In the General Club category the winner of the Flight Refuelling Trophy for the second year running is Three As CG 'A' with De Montfort University ARS 'A' as runner up.  With enough support for more than one team this year, the RSGB Contest Club 'A' move up from 8th place in 2019 to third place.

The Local Club category 1-2-3 is a repeat of 2019 with Camb-Hams 'A' followed by Aberdeen ARS 'A' and Cray Valley RS 'A' in third.

As might be expected the highest scoring individual leads the 400W section and in that position GM3X (GM3POI) takes the Lichfield Trophy.  In second place is GM4Z (GM4ZUK) followed by GM4AFF in third.  Just out of the top three places but the band leader on 80m is G4PIQ.  GM4AFF with 311 QSOs on 40m out of his total of 434 is the leader on that band.

In the 100W section G4FNL is in first place with G5UM (G0MCV) in second and GM4JYB in third.

For the third year running G3SWC leads the 10W section, M0RYB/P is in second place and G8OO in third.

DR2C operated by DJ0IF takes first place in the non-UK section followed by PA7WW and PA4HM.

Certificates have also been awarded to the highest placed teams of three, two and one in each club category.
