November 2024 80m Autumn Series CW contest

This was the last Autumn Series CW contest for 2024 and also the final session for the series.Last year's third and final session suffered from unfavourable propagation for inter-G working with the critical frequency below 3.5MHz from the start. Not so this year with many reports of good conditions and the highest totals of all three CW sessions made by the leading stations. In the closely fought 100W- Assisted category the top six stations were separated by just two points. Notable also was the bonus station GW6XX this time hosted by Martin GW4XUM with 171 QSOs.

There were 176 entrants in total, with logs received from fourteen different non-UK&CD countries. There were a further six different overseas countries in the logs, all from Europe.

Entrants are again reminded that no transmissions must be made in the two minutes immediately preceding the start and all QSOs must be completed before the end. A wideband SDR recording was used to check for any violations, a few were found and penalties applied. Please ensure your clock is accurately set before the start to avoid that 'Broken - Time' in your UBN. The rules also require all stations to observe the frequency limits specified, QSOs outside those limits will be disallowed. Use of CAT control is recommended but not essential, if not used then the frequency must be logged as '3500'.

As this is the last contest in the series the overall club awards for 2024 have been finalised. The list below shows the awards in the Local and General club categories together with the individual certificates for the three CW sessions.The SSB and DATA individual certificates can be viewed by navigating to the appropriate page. The final table of overall individual scores shows Tim G4ARI representing De Montfort University ARS on 8769 points just ahead of last year's winner Dave G3TBK (M7W) securing 8713 points for Spalding & DARS. The leading Intermediate station is Tim 2E0TJX with Steve M7WLT as the highest placed Foundation Licensee in a creditable 17th place. There were ten Intermediate and nine Foundation Licensees taking part this year, some of them for the first time and all securing those valuable enhanced points for their respective clubs. The leading non-UK&CD entrant is once again Yuri DF1MM. Thanks to Yuri and all the non-UK&CD stations for their continued support, over the nine sessions there were 74 entrants from overseas.

Congratulations to the Trophy and all the Certificate winners and we look forward to the 2025 Club Championship starting on Monday 3rd February with the SSB contest.
