First FT4 Contest 2026 19 January

The opening event of the 2026 FT4 Contest Series attracted 92 entrants, along with two check logs. This represents a decrease of 19 participants compared with the opening contest of 2025.

A few new people that took part and struggled, please see the 'FT4 tips and hints' on the contest rules page.

As in previous years, the contest proved to be largely a low-band affair. Conditions were further challenged by the presence of a significant solar storm, which had a noticeable impact on propagation.

The unusually high number of 'not in log' reports can be attributed directly to these poor band conditions.

The next event in the 2026 series will take place on Monday 23 February, running from 2000 UTC to 2200 UTC.
