Hope QSO Party - FT4 - 23rd June

This was the last of the Hope QSO Party Series (FT4) and people commented on how much they enjoyed the whole contest. It certainly gave us all something to look forward to during lockdown. This last series ran smoothly with no noticeable issues in operating or adjudicating.

The number of FT4 entrants overall was very similar to SSB but fewer then CW. This was the first time the RSGB have had a multi-band contest for FT4, with the positive feedback received I can see a similar series of short contests making an appearance in the future.

The UK High power session did go down to the wire with Bob G3ORY beating Nick G4FAL, operating the club station M5DX, by just 38 points. Well done Bob and Nick for 1st and 2nd respectively, with Phil M0TZZ taking 3rd.

In the DX High Power event, Dennis W1UE was top of all sessions so not surprisingly was 1st overall with Lorenzo IZ2FOS 2nd and Milos S53X coming in 3rd.

The UK Low Power section was the most popular category, the top three were separated by just 500 points. Lionel, G5LP was 1st with Tony G4NBS and Bryan G3RLE coming 2nd and 3rd respectively, all three running about 100w.

The highest placed Intermediate Licensees were John 2E0SPS in the Low power section and Timothy 2E0TJD in the QRP section. Jonathan M7RSC was the leading Foundation Licensee. Well done to all of you.

The DX Low Power competition was led by Anton ON6NL who came 1st, 500 points ahead of Pranas LY2J.

In the UK QRP section, Ian GW0KRL came in 1st winning 4 out of the 5 sessions with Ian G6TEQ and Jonathan M7RSC getting the other two podium positions.  All three running just 10 watts.

The DX QRP section was won by Slawomir SP1DOZ, Ad PA0AWH and Vernet F5OAM were 2nd and 3rd.
