RSGB Contest Results RoLo CW 2021
v4.158 by G4CLA

Last year's bumper entry was not repeated in 2021 but it was encouraging to see that logs received were still some 25% higher than the average over recent years.  Let's hope this trend continues.  This year there were 89 different callsigns in the logs, 28 of them non-UK&CD representing fourteen different countries.

As noted last year, with the almost universal use of a computer to log contacts and send the exchange, some of the errors found were again due to incorrectly set macros resulting in different locators being sent when a repeat was requested.  During adjudication these were detected, including for this year an operator's home locator being sent as a repeat instead of the one received on the previous contact.  The receiving stations were not penalised but the necessary manual intervention by the adjudicator adds considerable time to the adjudication process.  Please check that all macros have been set correctly for this contest.  There is guidance in the N1MM documentation and I'm sure other logging software has similar help for users.

The last half hour was for most entrants less busy than the first 60 minutes but this did allow some of the weaker stations to be heard.  Logging accuracy therefore became a major factor in the final positions in the results table.  Dave G3TBK is in first place with Graham G4FNL not far behind in second and there are three stations in joint third, Malcolm G3PDH, Paul G4PVM and Jonathan G0DVJ (M4J).

There were nine entries from non-UK stations, the highest placed is Jan PG7V in overall 15th place followed by Goran SM6EWB (SF6W) as the second highest non-UK&CD.  Thanks to all the non-UK&CD stations for taking part and providing a variety of locators to the mix.

In the RoLo SSB in April 2021 Graham G4FNL took first place, in this event he achieved second place, so it gives him an unassailable score to take the G5MY Trophy for the highest aggregate score over the two RoLo contests in 2021.

Finally to the award of the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy for the highest placed most accurate log.    There were only nine error free logs from EI7GY, G3LDI, G3TBK, G3TJE, G4BVY, G4FNL, M2D, M2U and PG7V.  As noted above, Dave G3TBK had the highest overall score so is awarded the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy for 2021.
