1st Backpackers Contest 2024
(The results have been re-issued due to two logs being inadvertently included in the wrong section).
Once again, the first backpackers' event of the season was blessed with good weather. Activity was well down compared to last year, however, with just 189 stations appearing in the logs, 26 of whom submitted entries. Only 9 non-UK&CD callsigns were logged. Several entrants bemoaned the lack of activity during the final hour i.e. after the 'other' 144 MHz May contest had concluded.
And so to the results which, as far as the section winners were concerned, was a case of 'deja vu all over again' (with apologies to Yogi Berra) i.e. last year's winners of this event Steve GW1YBB/P and Wayne, MW0LKX/P triumphed in the 5B and 25H sections respectively by very comfortable margins.
Congratulations to all the certificate winners, and I hope to see and hear you all for the 2nd outing on Sunday June 9th commencing at 0900 UTC.
