1st Backpackers Contest 2025

Regrettably, just 16 stations submitted entries, the smallest number for the first event in the Backpackers series for more than 20 years.  For comparison, last year attracted 26 entrants. Overall activity was also well down with a third fewer callsigns in the logs.

Whilst last year's winner of the 5B section, Steve GW1YBB/P triumphed once again, there was a 'new' callsign at the top of the 25H table in the form of Martin G4GFI/P.  It is still early days, of course, with the best three results being used to determine the final places at the end of series.

Congratulations to all the certificate winners, and I hope to see and hear you all for the 2nd outing on Sunday June 15 commencing at 0900 UTC.
