1.3GHz Trophy Contest

This contest, together with the sister 13cm Trophy Contest, form the final two events in the VHF Championship. The frequencies involved mean that they are usually quiet events and 2024 was no exception.

For 2023 VHFCC added a 500pt per large grid square bonus as used in the AC's.  The aim was to encourage beaming in all directions and more inter UK QSO's. It seems to have made little difference.  Both section winners were in JO01 or JO02 and in each section the runners up scores were close to half that of the winners.  There were also fewer entries but Mr Conditions may have played a part in that because in 2023 conditions were excellent.  In 2024 however the band reverted to type G0EAK 'Poor condx and even poorer activity made this one to forget!' and G3XDY 'Flat conditions, some reasonable AS. Activity seemed quite low.'

There were 30 entries (41 entries in 2023 and 36 in 2022).

ODX in the Open Section was the M1CRO/P with EA2XR QSO at 1002km and in SF the GD8EXI with F6DKW QSO at 762km (last years ODX was 1102km and 1233km respectively for reference).

This event is partly co-ordinated with a IARU Region 1 contest and the R1 logs were obtained and were used to assist with adjudication.
