3rd Backpackers Contest

Just 21 stations submitted entries together with 4 checklogs, well down on last month.  June's hot and sunny weather was replaced by windy and cool conditions but it stayed dry.  The concurrent VHF NFD provided plenty of activity with 25 stations outside of the UK appearing in the logs along with 227 from the UK & CD.

In the 5B section, Steve GW1YBB/P continued his winning ways with an impressive score in excess of one million points. This means he is now in an unassailable position and will win the Backpacker's Trophy. Andrew G4XZL/P improved upon last month's third place to take the runner up spot and John, G4CZB/P completed the podium. The Leading Foundation station was once again Simeon, M7SLL/P.

In the 25H Section, the winner on the day was Paul G8BGV/P. However, Wayne's, MW0LKX/P runner up spot ensured his move to the top of the table overall and Martyn G4RLF/P consolidated his overall third place.  Unlike the 5B section, there is still much to play for remembering that only the best three scores for the series count in the final reckoning.
