432MHz Trophy Contest
The second contest of the VHF Championship delivered both poor activity and conditions. ODX was G8XVJ/P's QSO with DA0FF at 870km (which is in line with ODX in previous years). Summed up by G0EAK (G6K)'s comment 'Awful weather, awful condx with deep slow qsb and low activity. No idea why I stayed out so long'. Other found help from aircraft scatter and others from access to the continent. G0SKA 'low activity but some lift to the east with DLs PA0s etc'. So taken in the round this contest could hardly be said to be fast paced.
The number of entries in Single Operator Fixed is much the same as in 2022. But in Open there were only 12 entries compared with 21 in 2022. Could this be the effect of the 7 entry cap for the Championship ? I would usually have entered this contest but realised that I need not do so as I could get my 7 in on the lower bands plus 432MHz LP.
Congratulations to all table leaders and runners up, who together with stations identified, have been awarded certificates; and to John G3XDY who retains the 1951 Council Cup.
