RSGB Contest Results 70MHz Contest CW 2015

Following a significant drop in entries between 2013 & 2014, it is good to report that the number of entries this year was, at 25, the same as in 2014. However the Open section was up by two entries at six, and the Single Fixed section correspondingly down by two at 17.

Most entrants seemed to find conditions average to poor, with QSB a problem. However, contacts were made with G, GJ, GM, GU, GW, EI, ON & PA. Opinions on activity were more varied, varying from good to poor, with one entrant suggesting the low activity was due to some potential entrants instead enjoying the good tropo conditions on 2m & 70cm. A few stations commented on the weather (not unsurprisingly these were the portables) and again opinions varied between good and terrible. This is perhaps to be expected given the wide geographical spread of entrants.

Congratulations go once again to Tiverton (SW) RC G4TSW as Open section leaders and winners of the Bill Capstick G3JYP Memorial Award. Congratulations also go to Dave G7RAU as leader in the Single Fixed section, and to the other certificate winners.
