October UHF

The last UHF contest of the year received 34 entries (54 in 2023 and 34 in 2022).  It can hardly be described as a popular contest and a number of entrants noted the lack of activity.  The reduction in the number of entrants may be connected with the conditions with the 2023 event being favoured with excellent conditions.

Contest ODX was achieved by G3M who worked EA1T at 1003km.  M1CRO/P worked EA2XR at 1002 km on both 432MHz and 1296MHz.  In 2023 G7RAU provided contest ODX with a QSO with EA8CTK on 432MHz at 2600km which gives you an idea of how good conditions were in 2023.

A single QSO was made on 76GHz between G1DFL/P and G4LDR/P on a path of 6km. Entries are accepted for this contest on bands higher in frequency than this.  Perhaps next year we might see an entry in the 122GHz band, I believe equipment exists for this band now.

This event is co-ordinated with a IARU Region 1 contest and the R1 logs were obtained and were used to assist with adjudication.
