SHF UKAC November 2017

Conditions were rated as poor for this event, with lower than usual activity and difficulty in completing longer distance contacts.

The move of 50MHz UKACs to Thursdays has helped increase activity in the SHF events this year. As a result several have commented that more time is needed to work enough of the stations available, particularly as activity is spread over four bands. There will be an increase to 3 hours in the 2018 events (apart from the summer 2.3GHz sections). A change is also being made to normalisation by score rather than position to make scoring more equitable where large numbers of stations make similar short range contacts.

Stations wishing to take part in the 2.3GHz events are reminded that they must register their station with Ofcom, and also hold the relevant notice of variation if they wish to use 2300-2302MHz.
