RSGB Contest Results Christmas Cumulatives Overall Results 2016
v4.158 by G4CLA

This must surely be one of the most complicated contests to adjudicate the effect of the 4 bands/4 days gives no less than 16 contests to adjudicate individually to get to the final results which we now have (drum roll)

Overall

Open section First place to Stewart G0LGS and second place Southdown ARS G1KAR/P (M6ONX,M1VGK,M6GVU). Leading Overseas Station is Jacques F1BHL/P. Leading station using 25w and a single antenna and was G4VFL/P. M6JJV/P was leading Foundation Station.

SF First place to David G4ASR for the fourth year running and second place to Tony G4NBS. Leading overseas station is Gerard F8BRK. Certificates also to M0ICR (winner, 25w single antenna), 2E0VPW (leading intermediate) and (for the third year running) to M6LHR (leading foundation).

50MHz

The conditions gods decided to throw in some Es for this contest with several stations working SP on 28 Dec. But this did not result in higher activity with the average number of active stations being 42 (51 in 2015).

In Open the band leader was Stewart G0LGS and the runner up Southdown ARS G1KAR/P (M6ONX,M1VGK,M6GVU). In SF it was G4ASR and G1DFL certificates to all.

70MHz

The Es just reached 70MHz with G4ASR working SP on the 28th, but he was the only station to benefit from it. The level of activity was down compared with 2015 only 32 stations active on average (42 in 2015).

In the open section the band leader (and only entrant) was G4VFL/P. In SF it was G4ASR with G4CZB in second place certificates to all three.

144MHz

Having practised on the lower bands the conditions gods then decided to add some excellent tropo, especially on the 29th with many stations working EA, OZ and SM. The band was alive with some 344 active stations. This gave an average of 217 active stations per day almost twice the 123 in 2015.

In the open section the band leader was M0BAO/P and runner up Bolton Wireless Club M0ICK/P. Leading Continental Station was F1BHL/P. In SF it was G4CLA and G0XDI respectively. Certificates for all.

432MHz

Conditions on 432MHz were not shabby either, with G4NBS working EA and many stations being able to work at least the nearer continent. Activity was up on 2015 with an average of 50 active stations in 2016 (41 in 2015)

The open section was won by David G4DHF/M and runner-up G0GQT. Leading continental station as Mike and Anne F4VRB. SF was won by G4NBS with G0LGS in second place. Leading continental Station was F4VRB. The usual certificates have been awarded.

Congratulations to all certificate winners.
