RSGB Contest Results Christmas Cumulatives Overall Results 2020

The Christmas Cumulatives - or 'Fun' contests as they have been known to date - are the last ones of the year. 2020 is also the last year for the current format - the 2021 event will be one band per day and PPK (points per kilometre). And for many entrants these contests - really 16 contests in all - were pretty unloved. The treble whammy of the format, the conditions and noise of xmas lights were all mentioned multiple times.

The conditions are worthy of comment - in 2019 significant Es and Tropo appeared - ODX on the lower three bands being around 1500km and on 432MHz around 950km. In 2020 200-300 km appeared to be a good qso - a number of stations did work DF0MU on 144MHz at around 500km, and GW0GEI appeared to have a private Es opening on 6m and so worked SN0R at 1732Km (also the best QSO of this year's series). But that was about it.

The standard of log keeping was good - with some days/bands having no bad QSO's.

There were 122 entrants (108 in 2019). Disappointingly there just one Foundation entrant for the contest - perhaps reflecting a multi band contest - so hopefully the new rules will help.

Overall

AO - First place was G0XDI with G7LRQ in second. Leading Overseas Station was PE1EWR (as for the last two years).

AR - First place was G8CUL and second place G8NVI. G8LZE was leading station running 25w or less to a single antenna as last year. Leading overseas station was PE1EWR in this section also. A certificate was also awarded to 2E0NEY (leading intermediate).

AL - First place was G3SQQ and G1PPA, G0MJW/A and G4JED were joint Runners Up. Certificates was also awarded to 2E0EKW (leading intermediate) and M7ALE (Leading Foundation).

Band Leader/Runner Up Certificates have been awarded for each band/section plus leading overseas, leading intermediate and leading station using 25w to a single antenna. There are 37 of these so I am not going to list them individually - you will find them at https://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/vhfresults.pl?Contestid=xmasfun&year=2020. Particular recognition Ann G8NVI amd Mike G8CUL who were Joint Band Leaders in AR on both 50 and 432MHz each having 1000 NP's in that band/section.
