    Club Calls Contest 2005.

Some clubs use this event to introduce members into contesting for the first time whilst others like to help improve operating skills. Many club stations managed impressive turn outs, the most being at Newbury ADARS and Christchurch ARS, both having 6 operators. Horsham ARC and Worthing ADARC both had 8 members operating from their home stations each submitting logs with 14 or more valid QSOs. At Silcoates School ARC, 3 school children aged 13, 15 and 16 operated their club station and achieved 26 QSO’s, with no errors in log keeping, making this a first time ever entry from a school club.

Accurate log keeping from Hadley Wood Contest Group GX4STV, operated by Stephen White G3ZVW gained them the leading position to win the Ariel Trophy and club certificate of merit. Very close behind, Chris Swallow G3VHB from Lichfield ARS, achieved second place and leading members certificate of merit. The David Hill G4IQM Memorial Trophy is awarded to Horsham ARC for the highest aggregate score of five club members.

    Mike Thayne G3GMS.

    Soapbox.

G0BAR Regarding logging - this log was saved in Cabrillo format (from SD) and easily edited to match the example on the RSGB Contest Website by adding two extra columns for status and society name.

G0MTN Put up inverted L in the dark. It was caught in trees and even lower than normal. Hence really struggled.

G0MUD Our first attempt - good antenna but very poor conditions.

G3LET Noise increased as the evening wore on my apologies to those that I couldn't resolve. However I enjoyed the event.

G3LRS A great fun contest, more members next year!! Logging by SD.

G3SAD/P Half of my LW aerial was on the floor! Logging program WINLOG32.

G3SVD My first 160m contest for very many years. It started with a very high noise level but seemed to improve or my ears became accustomed. These long club names were difficult at best and almost impossible in the noise. Also I had problems in finding a logging prog with space for them.I used DX4win (QSO NOTES) and utilities to convert to cabrillo.

G3SVL 10 over 9 QRN made this really difficult - but good fun nevertheless. Inv L - 40ft up 110ft out. Logging by Writelog.

G3SWC End fed long wire with remote tuner. Not getting out as well as on previous years - possibly due to interaction with other new antennas.

G3TKF Rules need to be clarified re abbreviated club names and spellings. Logging by Writelog.

    G3VHB Logging by N1MM Logger V5.7.25.

G3VQO Not really equipped for top-band phone (as you can tell). Logging by SD.

G3YAJ Noise Noise and more noise !!

G3ZBU 40 foot high dipole. Great fun. Logging by SD.

G3ZHE S8 noise on most of band. 140ft end fed.

    G4ADV Enjoyable contest.

G4AYM Conditions started very noisy improved towards the end. Some deep QSB. Logging by Conlog.

G4FKA First time in this event.

G4FQR Homebrew 25W. DOUBLET AT 10m above ground, fed via PicAtune.

G4SJX Another great contest wish we could stir some club members into action. Will try again for next year. Logging by SD.

G5XV/P We had S9 static all the time. The intention was to train "newcomers" to contesting.

G8MKO Enjoyed contest despite noisy band & QSB.

GC4CC Impressed with the activity from some clubs. Most enjoyable contest.

GJ3DVC Good propagation spoiled by high static level.

GM3TKV/P Noisy band conditions but good fun. Logging by SD.

GX3GWB/P Where were all the GMs? Logging by SD.

GX3YRC Some stations gave slightly different club information but very enjoyable. Some good DX stations taking part as well.

GX4ARF The clubs first essay into contesting all found it enjoyable. Band very noisy. Could not find a logging programme to cope with this so entry produced on Excel file.

GX4NOK I used SD for logging - it's great. Great Fun Contest had lots of support from members this year and we all had fun. This should be on 80m and not 160m its too restrictive for normal op's to try and get anteenas up for 160m.

    M0AJF Logging by N1MM Logger V1.1.231.

    M3RFK Logging by WINLOG32 v2.8.29

MX0EEE Very hard going this year. QRM and QRN bad. Logging by SD.

MX0SSW I'm glad that the boys enjoyed the night of contesting.

M0COP I used SD for logging but no Club Calls file.
