    Ropoco 2 Contest, 2007

This event enjoyed about the same level of support as the corresponding 2006 contest, but with a surprisingly different list of entrants.  As usual there were a number of regulars who were active but did not submit logs - which is a pity.

For some reason, accuracy is always more of a problem in RoPoCo2 than in the April event.  This year things were worse than usual, with mis-copied callsigns and several 'three-handed' QSOs - commonplace in hell-for-leather events like the 80M CCs, but hitherto unheard of in RoPoCo.  Loss of 10% of claimed score was not uncommon, with some stations faring even less well!

In fourth place (equal with G0MTN and GW3SQX) was Mick Puttick, G3LIK.  However, his 600-point log was the best of only four which were free of errors, and secured for him the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy for the second year running.

In first place, Fraser Robertson, G4BJM, added 670 points to his score from RoPoCo1 to give an aggregate of 1350 from both this year’s events, and take the G5MY Trophy by a safe margin.

Commiserations, then, as well as congratulations, go to double runner-up John Muzyka, G4RCG, who amassed a creditable aggregate score of 1210, and whose 640-point log contained only a single wrongly-received character!

Brian Gale, G3UJE, improved substantially upon his April effort to take third place

    G4BJM
Good conditions and activity.  Worked everone I heard

    G4RCG
There was a bit more activity this time.  Got my highest number of contacts ever.  Band was nice and quiet all the way thru.  Really enjoyed it this time.

    G3LIK
Thought it was slow going.  Some really funny postcodes appeared - do people change them on purpose?  Lots of familiar calls to be heard.

    G0MTN
Station worked fine for 12 hours yesterday in EUHFC test.  Then today RF repeatedly killed Microham router, leaving me without PC keying.  Manual keying still worked but without a dot-dash memory. Result: Garbage CW sent.  Apologies to lots and lots of people.  Pity really - activity seemed higher than normal with a few new callsigns checking in.  15 minutes after the contest, lots of new ferrites fitted to all cables and keying now seems more robust.  With the PC reboots and logging on paper I must have busted a lot of codes ... Maybe next time ...

    GW3SQX
Always interesting, but not enough participants -- lunchtime would be better.  And what happened to the plans for an SSB version of RoPoCo?  Still, a good test of copying -- perhaps participants ought to be steered towards WAE for a grown-up accuracy contest.

    G4ARI
    As expected, great fun!

    M0DHO
Some bizarre postcodes.  Surprised to get mine back intact.  Pity there were not more participants.  My first RoPoCo and enjoyed it very much.

    G3ZRJ
Not quite so many howlers in the postcodes this time.  As always, most enjoyable contest - thanks.

    G3ZGC
Quite a noisy location here but conditions seemed OK.  For a change, 100% happy with the codes received.

    GM3POI
A move to an evening slot would be better.  The sun had been up for four hours by the start time.

    G4FAL
Great contest this RoP0co.  Wilr impr03 mq tkpi9n ann kr.  Agn pse?

    G4FNL
Activity was quite low.  I worked all I heard.  Thanks to all for the QSOs.

    G3KNU
Wierdest set of codes I have ever encountered.  I might be responsible for some of them!

    G2AFV
    Band very noisy 2nd hour.

    G4OGB
Condx variable, but at least quiet.

    M0AJT
Once again enjoyed the contest.  In my opinion a good time to have it, contest over and still time to enjoy the day with family.  More activity would improve matters greatly.

    G3JKY
Enjoyed the contest, despite no rules being published nowadays!

    GW0ETF
Ran out of stations to work in the second hour.  Would be fascinating to be able to track the progression of one's own postcode through the course of the contest.

    G4XPE
    Conditions good.

    G3HEJ
A nice contest.  Plenty of stations and reasonable speeds for beginners or 'less able' CW ops.  Thanks to all.

    G4CKH
My first RoPoCo - very enjoyable - several barren patches during event but will put that down to limited number of entrants - will earmark dates for next year.

    G3IZD
Band noise went from S4 to S9 in first hour.  Some exotic postcodes - how does the Post Office ever deliver !!!

    G3VIP
Good at start, band quiet, QSB towards end.

    G3RFH
After my first 4 QSOs I discovered the log was only recording the first 3 digits of a postcode so I hastily created a new log and all was well.  I lost about 10 minutes on that.  Otherwise I thought there seemed to be fewer stations on and conditions were about average.

    G3JRM
Here we are again for the second round of RoPoCo.  Most of the usual big guns but did not hear many casual participants, plus changing conditions over the two hours had me struggling "again", hi hi.

    G0ADH
Seemed a bit quiet here - but still quite fun.

    G3HKO
I always enjoy this one.  Plenty QRM but no DLs heard until after the contest finished.

    G3VQO
Was late on parade (had stayed up to watch Perseids), so only managed the last forty-five minutes.  Some well-mangled postcodes by the time I arrived.  All good fun - we just need more activity.

    G4FCH
Band condx good, but local QRM.

    M0NZA
Very enjoyable contest - strange how the obviously comic postcode seemed to survive error-free for so long.  Anyway, a great contest and thanks for the QSOs.

    G0IBN
Raining + QRN.  Only managed 50W into end-fed ... on holiday!

    M0ECW
Conditions seemed to be down on normal.

    G3GLL
Could only stay for half an hour, unfortunately.  A few garbled ones even in those few minutes.  Perhaps some of these contest loggers have their own built-in scramblers !

    2E0KOP
Good fun, in a tortuous way!

    G4AIU
Is it me, or are there some wierd postcodes out there?  A very enjoyable contest - keep it up!

    G4ZGP
    Came to the contest late.
