    F/G3MXH/P
Station located in Burgundy LOC JN26MW
Lots of QRN had to close down late Saturday evening
due to Static arc over in ATU!
Great fun but hard on the ears throughout.

    F5VBU
    Hopefully better effort next year!

    G0FBB/P
Had everything ready well before the start of the contest only to
discover that 15 minutes before the start that anything over about ten
'V's on the key caused the rig to turn off. Turned out the PSU
regulation was not quite good enough for the generator. Missed the
    first few minutes replacing it.
Bad static on the low bands made 160
a real struggle this year. It seemed to ease up a bit later in the
session but it was never easy.
You could tell those with RBN who just
pounced within moments of starting as fresh meat on the band.

    G0IVZ/P
RBN changes the character of this contest in a way that did not feel
right to the operators here. gone is the real fun of trawling the
band together and finding the stations to work. While setting the
staion up to connect to the internet and get the RBN feed into the
logging software is easy peasy it is we feel detrimental to what we
enjoy about FD. We normally run a 6m station for our youngest member
Craig M3RTN. But he chose not to come this year as spending the
weekend in a field of long grass when you have hay fever is far from
enjoyable! We were plagued by power line noise on 10m this year and
lost some QSO's as a result. Heavy static from electrical storms in
SE England on 160m Very impressive to see from a distance though!
*** Serial No 925 not sent. Have entered dummy QSO with own call***

    G0WHO
Tried /portable, didn't get a reply, so need some aerial work. This entry from home was /QRP which proved that with a suitable aerial QRP is feasible on NFD

    G1FCW/P
New site this year. K3 & Doublet antenna.
Quite poor conditions especially HF due to geomagnetic storms.

    G2DX/P
    X-RADIOS: Yaesu FT900 with 10 Watts
    X-ANTENNAS: Windom 60M Long 9 Meters Heigh

    G3GHN/P
    very windy

    G3HEJ/P
SD was great for logging but I hand keyed the TX
Post logging / tidy up not quite as easy !

    G3IZD/P
Hard going on 10m again this year and 160m seemed quiet compared
    with the usual pace.

    G3JRM/P
Wx dry all weekend but blustery wind made tent erection
difficult. Run stn off 12v batteries and worked well.
Unfortunatly we had qrn issues with the inverter
feeding the laptop. All in all a pleasant weekend
    in the countryside.

    G3LX/P
    Conditions worse than last year.

    G3RCV/P
Nice to return to the Restricted Section. Conditions not good
but plenty of EU contacts available.

    G3SAD/P
IC756 Pro MkII 270ft Doubelt at 11m and WinTest
Great fun as usual...WX very windy requiring much re-guying through
the event to stave off tent take-off! very annoying RF problem on 40m
which had not occured on previous outings we are hoping it is this
rather than incompetence which accounts for the unusual amount of 40m
dupes! Although some were in favour of the inclusion of RBN and
Skimmer one team member said he would not be taking part if it was
introduced into the Low Power event. Personally I would prefer
seperate assisted and non-assisted classes within Open/Restricted and
Low Power...so something for everyone! FYI we used neither technology...also please change the LP to
QRP and limit it to 5w along with the rest of the World. 73 Paul
G0WAT on the behalf of Stevenage and District ARS

    G3TBK/P
The Generator gremlin struck us with a vengeance making up for us never having had a power source problem before. We lost just over 7 hours in all.
    FT1000MP TH7 at 60 feet 160 80 & 40m dipoles at 65 feet 40m dipole at 34 feet.
High QRN at first on 160 & 80M Conditions were improving when we lost power.

    G3UES/P
This was a classic old-style (but high-tech) NFD effort at the club's
standard corner of a rugby field on an island in the Thames between
Weybridge Shepperton and Walton in North Surrey.
There were however a couple of highly unusual aspects. Firstly the setup went
fast and smooth and already after a couple of hours everyone was free to descend
on the rugby club pub. Secondly the station and all the paraphernalia
worked flawlessly for the full contest.
Our simple objective besides having fun and play with radio was to make
1000 qsos. We made exactly that. A big thank you to all the dupes we
worked and thus helped us meet our goal.
    We used a traditional 260ft doublet and a K3 radio. The K3 is a
superb CW radio but too small to do big-knob/small-knob s&p. We would
have liked to use an additional receiver (on our single antenna) to
provide an opportunity for contest-shy club members to feel that they
    can participate.
With the last-minute clarification of the rules we scrambled to find a
way to get internet access. We found it in the form of a MiFi dongle
that provided 3G access and a WiFi access point in one tiny essentially
self-configuring device. Using RBN was fun and provided added interest.
Last year we were operating on a half doublet (a singlet?) but this year
we had more solid connections and a full doublet. Early on Sunday
morning we were ahead of last year in spite of one slow hour but then we
fell back slowly. Top band was filled with QRN from the thunderstorms
that were somewhere but not on top of us. Sunday was bad with 10 and 15
pretty dead and we had long skip and big noise on 20/40.
    Operators were M0CFW K1BG (a visitor from Boston) G3SXW (a visitor on
the way to the pub) and G0CKV.
Many club members participated in the setup and take-down in the brisk
business in the bar and in our Saturday evening BBQ: G3HYT M0SAR

    G3ULT/P
Less sporadic E on 10m this year. High QRN on 160m
made difficult copy until after 0100 Sunday.
Pity abt the rain packing up. Great weekend.
Managed to get a few hours sleep from Sun 0500.

    G3WYW/P
Last minute decision to enter using my caravan on the front lawn with 85' LW between two 10M and 5M poles on lawn. FT450D with drycell battery powered, hand keying & paper logging. No RBN
Computer or Skimmer! Hurt my keying hand putting up AE so sri for QSD! Start:1500z End:0900Z OFF:1726Z-1903Z & 0125Z-0555Z. greatly enjoyed the Back to Basics concept.

    G3ZRJ
Solar flare did no favours on hf bands

    G4ALE/P
Rig - FTDX5000. Absolutely NO skimmer or RBN!
Antennas - Cushcraft A4 at 52ft inverted Vs for 160/80/40m.
Wx hot & sunny Friday and Saturday miserable Sunday with a lot of rain.
Conditions on 10m not as good as last year but still got a couple of Ws.
20m went very well.15m not bad.
LF bands better than 2010 except 160m which wasvery noisy and hard work.

    G4ARN/P
A dry weekend for a change.
    IC756 PRO3, 4ele SteppIR, LF dipoles + N1MM software

    G4ATH/P
Plenty of activity. 10metres open a bit on Saturday but
virtually dead on Sunday. Highlight of the weekend
was bacon butties for breakfast on Sunday morning.

    G4AYM/P
Rig IC718 Antenna 270ft centre fed in inverted V centre at 11m
ATU Heath Autokeyer homebrew Logging Software homebrew
Power source 12V battery float charged by Honda generator.
Conditions - 10m never really opened for us only eight QSOs
QSO rate steady throughout. Everything worked perfectly -
only technical problem one of our 12V tent light bulbs blew.
Weather - for Setting up on Friday night we had a glorious evening.
Unfortuantely things got progressively worse through the weekend
and we ended up taking in down in the rain. But despite the weather
we had a great weekend. Thanks as ever for organising an enjoyable event.

    G4ELZ
    Operated from home

    G4FNL/P
    Ft1000mp + 270ft doublet at 11m

    G4IRN/P
Moved QTH and changed antenna this year so the disappointing scores on 40 and 20 in particular could be down to either.
Lost 40 minutes of the contest when the tent literally blew away. Fortunately no damage to equipment or operators.
160M was quieter than normal, 10m provided some business on Saturday but Sunday was dire. Fortunately the rain kept away for most of the weekend only really starting after we had left the site. As always great fun albeit a little frustrating at ti
    mes. John G4IRN.

    G4RQI/P
    omni vii 10w doublet @ 11m

    G4WSM/P
Rig Antenna PC Winkeyer and MFJ 993b worked perfectly
Shortage of operators meant long stints of operating.
Weather mostly good but cold with some rain overnight
Band conditions good with opening on 10m.
SD logging worked perfectly and made dupe checking easy

    G5BK/P
Started in the sunshine finished cold & wet. Conditions were RUBBISH!

    G5GX/P
10m was poor. 160m bad QRN. TS590 was a joy to use and
will be even better when we've all learnt to drive it!
The club had the use of a new 5KVA generator which
didn't miss a beat the entire week-end. SD was once
    again bomb proof.

    G5XV/P
No clusters or skimmers at this station !
    Rig K3.
Antenna HF Force 12 40/80m Dipoles.

    G6NRC/P
    Big improvement over last year.
    IC7400 to 260ft top doublet + N1MM

    G6UW/P
Similar setup to last year using the van 'Flossie' with its pneumatic mast kindly lent by the Camb-Hams.
Rig was Elecraft K3; antennas were all dipoles (using the 40m dipole on 15); the 20 and 10 dipoles were the driven elements of a Spiderbeam.
Had some technical confusion about keying interfaces which meant that the first five hours was sent entirely by hand with a straight key!
Used my own 'cwTBK' software as a decoding aid.

    G6YB/P
Very poor conditions considering the good openings on the HF bands
in previous days and weeks so our score was down on all bands
except 40m compared to last year.
Except for Friday evening the weather was also poor especially
for tear-down on Sunday. Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable weekend !
    Equipment: FT1000
    Antennas: 160m & 80m dipoles 40m rotatable dipole A3S Tribander

Family commitments clobbered me for time. Half-hearted
effort. 1st event from revamped shack.

    G8APB
Just exercising the key to see if I could work the world, that was most of itr with a few Uk stations. Thanks for persevering with my signal.

    G8FC/P
A good time was had by all. Weather was good but cool
    at night.

    G8LED/P
Tried using just 7W from the K2 to see how well it would work
managed to contact most that I called but a fair few just
couldn't hear me. The long wire was probably too short to
put out an effective signal on 160m so only 10 QSOs. Lots of
repeats required although all received reports (bar one) were 599!

    G8XCW/P
Struggled to be heard. Found a great location this year but the trees were not as hight as I recalled.... consequently, the dipole was no more than 20 ft high in most places. Still good fun.

    GM3BSQ/P
Condx very poor at start although I suspect even worse for others.
10m openings very short this year.

    GM3POI/P
    No internet;RBN;Cluster!!

    GM3ZRT/P
antenna ok - sheep took a liking to the coax!

    GM4AGG/P
    Elecraft K3 and 270ft doublet

    GM4GRC/P
Weather pretty cold and damp only two operators

    GM4RGC/P
This station planned as a QRP station
However used mainly as a training station
80M condx so poor we assumed K2 had fault
Weather conditions dry occ sunny but cold north wind

    GW0AAA/P
Great fun as ever. Our first time in the Open Section.

Thanks for Q's see you next year!

Nice to have so many G stations with good listening capacity on 14 and 21 MHz. This year could almost work no stations on 80 m because of heavy local noise, getting worse every year.
