Too much interference from All Asia Contest

    G0VQR/P
Operating from the Isle of White at White cliffs
holiday park. I could not stay on for long as my wife
had other plans. I could not say to much as we were on
holiday. The car battery did not like running a 100 watts
for long. I had to have the engine running most of the time.

    G2AS/P
Some of the 'serial numbers' logged below are the ages of ops in the All Asia Contest who did not give us a proper serial number.
This year we were short staffed as four of our experienced operators felt unable to attend.
Nevertheless we carried on with a small team that included two new comers to contesting one being
M6KSH a YL member of the club. Both these folk did a great job running the 'red eye' shift from midnight to 6am!
Our equipment was a FT950 at 100W o/p into an OCFD antenna mounted on a single fibreglass pole inverted V fashion.
It seemed to work very well giving us Qs into VK2 9M2 BV V5 and other nice Dx locations.
This submission is a far cry from our last effort in the Open section when we ran 400 watts to a nice yagi at 65 feet!
However it's the best we could do in the circumstances and we had a great time even if our new Kippor genny failed 7 minutes before the start!

    G3LX/P
Check log submitted as manpower shortage prevented the 24 hour
    build rule being met.

    G3RCV/P
WX held until the last hour when the heavens opened up .

    G3SJJ/P
Very enjoyable but hard work with just the two of us to assemble and disassemble
the station ourselves. We managed 3 hours sleep each overnight and had a cooked
breakfast on Sunday morning so no complaints. After analysis of last year's results
when we came third with 620 Qs and 97 mults we set a target of 800 Qs and 120
mults. The final tally was just 3 Qs short of target but a super total of 130 mults.
15m produced some good Asiatic mults but our Q total was down on last year. 20m was
OK but the lack of a beam and amp was very noticeable in not being able to attract
good runs of US stations. All the equipment worked to plan. We used Dave's FT1kMP
which has 1.8KHz filters in both IFs plus a 2kHz filter out of my MP for the sub rx.
We had hoped to use a new design state of the art SR2O unit but the electronics box
wasn't delivered until Saturday morning. Even though all the software was installed
on both laptops we couldn't risk spending last minute time on setup so we used the
12 year old SO2R unit originally designed for our GU8D IOTA Contest operations. Sub
rx operator was able to grab the mic by hitting his footswitch but had to press the
2nd vfo tx button first. The new unit gets round that. We spent a lot of time on s&p
using the system but ran when activity peaked. The basic antenna was an Extended Double
Zepp for 20m with an 84 foot span suspended between two 50ft scaffold tube masts. We
also had jumpers to make an EDZ for 15m and also to add end sections for 80m. Since Q
rate isn't high it was a quick job to lower the antenna and make or break the jumpers.

    G3TBK/P
    FT1000MP + TOKYO Amp 400W TH7 @ 60ft 80 + 40m Dipoles at 66 feet 40m Bobtail 40m dipole @ 33 feet
We normally enjoy a good opening to USA on 40m in small hours but was poor this year
Very strange condx on Saturday afternoon. Asian DX strong but EU weak and difficult
    LOGGED WITH N1MM.
Usual inconsistency from some stations as to sending /P!

    G3UES/P
This was another relaxing club affair with a little bit of contest, quite a bit of pub and a BBQ thrown in. It rained heavily as we
took down the gear but things went smooth otherwise. M0NIQ managed
to find us on our island in the Thames having heard us on the air
signed up for membership and did the night shift. We want more of
that kind. K3 to a doublet with an autotuner.
Thanks to the operators and all the unnamed contributors.

    G3ULT/P
We had some water dripping through one tent seam on Sunday morning with the heavy rain but that was the only mishap.
10m seemed dead. Only a litle activity on 15m. We did more QSOs this year than last but multipliers down so overall
    score is down.

    G3VRE/P
This is our second entry to HF SSB Field Day and 2nd use of N1MM Logger
Hard work this year particulary 15/40m. Station details Tranceiver
Yaesu FT990 100 watts; 135feet inverted dipole 450 ladder feed with apex at 10 metres; 110m
ASL in IO81XL. Frustrating having WAE contest and varying exchange. Some stations refusing contact.

    G4ARF/P
The Clubs new M6 members all of whom have passed
the Intermediate exam wished to have a try in
this contest and apart from horrendous rain on
Saturday enjoyed the experience. not a high score
    but steep learning curve.

    G4BP/P
PowerSDR froze on the first press of the mic on the first QSO but we recovered. Everyone enjoyed it but tiring.

    G4EKT/P
Contest started slowly but got going in the evening.
Condx not good on the higher bands.
SD did all that was asked of it!

    G4SJM/P
Much better organised this year but hampered by a faulty piece of coax
but when that was fixed we were away. Great training opportunity for our
members. A lot learnt and skills shared about masts guying logging
listening and all the other skills associated with running a Field Day
station. Antenna was a doublet oriented W-E supported by two masts 35m
apart fed with 450ohm feeder. LDG AT-200ProII tuner at base. Icom 746
as main radio with N1MM used as the logging program. Excellent military
shelter with arctic liner and floor for op tent which really made all the
difference for the starlight shift. Improvements to make for next year
include getting a better strategy for working multipliers and more
training using N1MM. A good couple of days of fun which was helped by
the all important support team (my XYL and daughters - thank you!)

    G4WAC/P
First time in the Open section. Various equipment problems but lots of new HF operators enjoyed the weekend.

    G4YRC/P
Good weekend enjoyed by all that attended rain whilst
packing up meant a lot of wet kit.

    G6IPU/P
Good weekend WX stayed fine untill we got home lot of static over
night with good light show to the south east made it hard going on the
lower bands early evening and over night Station was FT1000MP TH7 @ 40FT

    G6TW/P
very enjoyable weekend good weather no wind equipment icom 756, ameritron mobile amp,
3 element moseley beam at 85ft, 40 & 80m dipoles at 75ft on cherry picker truck
some new members and contesters made the event and all had good time
    73 Mark M0UTD

    G6YB/P
Good weekend had by all. Rather slow to start but picked up later on.
Weather held out and managed a good sun burn on Friday. Achieved a
record time for packup on Sunday with a good number of extras helping
with the pull down. enjoyable weekend had by all.

    G7HNO
Trying out a homebrew bellwire doublet

    G8FC/P
Another good Field Day with plenty of members joining in.

    GI3XRQ/P
First time for Society in this contest.

    GM4AGG/P
Portable station from GM4TOQs premises behind Windyhills sub-station
near Hardgate. Using FT-920 transceiver 100w Delta Loop antenna
supported by two sets of scaffolding poles diesel generator and N1MM
logging software. Assisted with DX-Cluster. All ops are full and
paid-up members of West of Scotland [Glasgow] ARS. WX stayed mostly
dry with some showers a good effort though not our best.

    GW0AAA/P
Operated from my car for a total of just 2 hrs with an ic=706.
The antenna was a quarter wave vertical for 20m.

    GW4LWZ/P
First Field day contest for the club.
Struggled to make ourselves heard bands very crowded
    Used SD all worked well.

    GW6GW/P
This was a fun weekend for members of the Blackwood & District ARS (GW6GW)
it wasn't a hard-core competitive entry but a group of lads (and lasses)
out to enjoy the camaraderie of a club event making some contacts and enjoying the barbeque.
That said some planning went into the effort and despite serious RF-in-the-shack
problems crashing the computer network we made mends battled on and overall the
claimed score is up on last year.

    M0GBB/P
-sd is a great contest loggibg programe
a well supported rsgb contest and enjoyed by all

    M0MCG/P
The groups first HF contest - usually on for V/UHF only but felt like
a change. An enjoyable contest & found a nice new site with a very
helpful farmer. All in all a good weekend. TS-590S 130' Doublet @ 14m

    M0TSL/P
All Asian contest entrants seldom QSO'd
    Good WX

    M0VSQ/P
First effort of this fledgling contest group. Much fun was had and
many lessons learned for future entries in the open category.

    M0YCG/P
TS570 + inverted V doublet with centre at about 40 feet.
Andrews CHilli and the odd bottle of red wine ......

    M0YGB/P
Nothing heard on 10M although trying to hear anything
Sunday morning with rain beating down on trailer
even with headphones was a challenge!

    MI0NID/P
The setup was FT-840 into long dipole and we were up 530m ASL.

    MM0AOQ/P
A very enjoyable weekend again.Conditions slightly down
at the start of the contest but seemed to pick up.
Thankfully the weather stayed fine this year.

    MW1LCR/P
Some rare DX at times, and band conditions not stable, with 21 and 28 particulalrly flaky. Still, no real problems this year, and hit my targets of 1000 QSO's and 150 Mults. Antenna system & software worked very well this year.
