2nd 144MHz Backpackers Contest of 2007

The thirty-one contestants were almost universally greeted with sunny weather and good band conditions for this contest. The better sited stations could work continental DX.

The top three stations in the 3W Single Operator category were extremely close on claimed score. These stations constantly swapped places during adjudication as errors in the logs were discovered. Tim Raven, G4ARI/P eventually claimed the top spot in this section due to more accurate logging. Charlie Jordan, GW0PZO/P was the runner-up.

The 3W Multi-operator section was won by the Verulam ARC, GW3VER/P with the Real Backpackers Contest Group, G3CWI/P in second place.

The 10W Single Operator section was won by Paul Selwood, G8BGV/P with John Wilson, G3UUT/P in second place.

In the 10W Multi-operator section Ken Coxon and Sid Bolam operating as G0HDV/P were the winners.

The leading Intermediate Station certificate was won by Fred Smith, 2E0TLB/P.

Thank you to G3MEH, G0KYS and G4DBW for supplying very useful check logs.

Ian, G0FCT
