First 70 MHz 2007

Unfortunately the contest "clashed" with Easter Sunday which reduced the activity levels. That said, 95 stations from EI, G, GD, GI, GM, GU, GW and LX appeared in the logs. This year 5 entrants managed to work more than half the stations active. Conditions were rated as poor to average and only three QSOs over 500kM were completed.

The portable stations found the weather to be mild and sunny for the time of year though there was a strong wind in some parts of the country.

Congratulations go to the section winners Robert GD4GNH and the Colchester Group G0VHF/P. These stations together with the runners up Bryn G4DEZ and Nick M1DDD/P, and Richard G4HGI as the leading low power station will receive certificates.

Comments from the logs
G0EHV/P
Surprised by how windy it was! Band conditions very variable but generally down a bit.
G0VHF/P
Quite pleasant for the time of year.
G0PQF/P
Just giving away points and trying out a new site. Heard no GM's. Couldn't raise G2KF/P in IO70.
G1KHX
Average
G2KF/P
Poor, not many heard. No GM. Many thanks to all.
G3FIJ
Disappointing!
G3LVP
The choice of this date on a holiday weekend was unfortunate, we had visitors and I was unable to participate for the whole of the event.
G3MEH
Reasonable conditions and good to work plenty of portables. A few regulars missing from the log, though.
G3NFC/P
Very nice weather for time of year
G4ADV/P
Stations didn't seem as loud as they should have been!
G4DEZ
Not very high activity and no DX
G4HGI
Good Activity at the start - could only do 90 mins which was a shame - Very enjoyable contest
G4JZS
Could only operate for first 50 minutes, fancy arranging a religious festival on the same day as the 1st 70 MHz contest!
G6GVI/P
Did VHF Field Day come early this year? It was great to hear so many portable stations out in April! Some very strong signals from Cornwall, but nothing heard from Scotland or Alderney. GD4GNH Good signals but activity levels low probably due to Easter Sunday holiday
GW4EVX/P
Very pleasant sunny morning with a good level of activity throughout the contest.
GW4RWR
Band flat. Weather excellent. High pressure.
M1DDD/P
WX sunny and calm to start but soon blowing a gale. Must get the old Land Rover wind proofed. Great to be back on doing a bit of contesting
