432MHz Low Power 2007

It was a fine sunny day for the second year running in this contest. However this year saw the entry level fall by 33% on last year, which was very disappointing. The entrants' comments reflected the resulting decrease in activity.

Just prior to the contest there was some good tropo to the South, but this was largely over by the time the contest started - typical! Only the Moors Contest Group, from their location in the far South West, managed to catch the EA opening during the contest, gaining them the best DX by a good margin.

Congratulations to the A1 Contest Group G4ZAP/P who make it six consecutive years as winners of the Open section. Warrington Contest Group G3CKR/P took second place.

Roger Piper G3MEH wins the Single Operator Fixed section for the first time since 2003. Bob Harrison G8HGN took second place.

Burton ARC G3NFC/P were winners of the Single Operator Others section, with Ron Price GW4EVX/P taking second place.

Frank Laanen PE1EWR receives the certificate for leading overseas station.

The Contest Committee has received suggestions from some that this contest and the 144MHz Low Power contest should be moved to the end of July. It seems, however, that there are pros and cons attached to both dates. After some discussion, and consideration to all the views expressed, we have decided to keep the contests where they are for next year.
