50MHz Trophy Contest 2007

This years contest saw Sporadic E conditions somewhat down on 2006, however there were still some nice DX QSO's to be made. The Northern Lights CG MD6V made the only contact over the Atlantic, working WP3UX, whilst G(W)4BVY/P managed a QSO into West Africa with 5T5SN.

Once again, entry levels to this contest have increased. Overall entries are up nearly 20%, with the Single Operator sections again proving most popular. Logging standards varied widely, with several entrants logging contacts as RS(T) 59(9) when different signal reports had been sent to them.

Section winners and runners up are as follows:

The Bristol Contest Group GW6YB/P take first place in the Open Section this year, ending a long run of wins for the Northern Lights MD6V, who this year finish second.
Bryn G4DEZ again wins the Single Operator Fixed section, and with a score of just 0.9% more than Roger G(W)4BVY/P (winner, Single Operator Others Section), he also retains the Six Metre Cup.
Runners up in these sections were Steve G0AEV (Single Operator Fixed), and Jonathan M5FUN/P (Single Operator Others).
The A1 Contest Group "A" G4ZAP/P take first place in the Six Hour Others Section, and their "B" Team G4NXO/P finished second.
Finally, in the Single Operator Fixed (6 hour) Section, Steve M5BFL finishes first, with Colin M0DDT in second place.
