2011 2m UKAC - December

This month 155 valid logs (including check logs) were received (138 in 2010, 149 in 2009) and 26 out of the 45 UK locator squares were activated. 34 different UK locator squares have been activated in the 2m UKAC of 2011. On average, 172 stations entered each session in 2011 (155 in 2010, 131 in 2009).

The final total of stations entered in 2011 reveals:

495 stations have entered at least one session
315 stations have entered at least two sessions
243 have entered at least three sessions
199 have entered at least four sessions
165 stations have entered at least five sessions
173 stations have entered at least six sessions
144 stations have entered at least seven sessions
116 stations have entered at least eight sessions
89 stations have entered at least nine sessions
71 stations have entered at least ten sessions
54 stations have entered at least eleven sessions
35 stations have entered all twelve sessions

Review of 2011

Two clubs dominated the 2m Club Championship; Bolton Wireless Club and Trowbridge & District Amateur Radio Club. Trowbridge pushed Bolton hard in several of the sessions (and managed to win two of them) but the superior numbers of entrants from Bolton enabled them to secure the overall win and hence retain the G6NB Trophy. Trowbridge were the runners-up with the Harwell Amateur Radio Society in third place. 78 clubs competed in the 2m Club Championship.

In the AL section, four stations (M1EYP, G0BWC, G8LZE and M6OUT) scored more than 6000 points (maximum possible is 8000). M1EYP won seven sessions and came second in another session ending up with 7977 points, 23 points away from perfection. G0BWC came second with 7433 points and G8LZE came third with 6987 points. 120 stations completed in the AL section.

The AO section was dominated by G4DEZ who won eight of the twelve sessions and hence scored the maximum of 8000 points. GI4SNA came second and G4FZN came third. M1MHZ, who started off the year entering the AR section but switched to the AO section in March, came fourth. 40 stations completed in the AO section.

The prize of being top of the AR section was fought over by principally three stations (MI0SMK, M0BRA and G0XDI). Between them, these three stations won all twelve sessions. Fifteen stations scored more than 7000 points and twenty-six stations scored more than 6000 points. In the end, MI0SMK by winning seven sessions and coming second in an eighth amassed 7991 points to take the win. M0BRA came second with 7891 points and G0XDI came third with 7863 points. 321 stations completed in the AR section.

The AX section was dominated by GM4JR who entered every session and won six of them. G8VHI came second by winning five of the six sessions he entered. G8HGN came third only 50 points behind second place. 14 stations completed in the AX sections.
