AFS SUPER LEAGUE - 2022/23

As usual, the 2022/23 AFS Super League consisted of eight qualifying events with separate listings for General Club and Local Club categories. The qualifying events provide a good spread of frequencies and modes, covering bands from 160m to 70cm using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK63. Overall results were very similar to the 2021/22 season. A total of 105 Affiliated Societies (62 Local Club and 43 General Club) submitted entries. This was just less than 4% up on the 20/21 season, with a very similar distribution between categories. A total of 148 teams, involving 1146 individual entries, appeared across all eight qualifying events - up by around 1% in both cases. 28 clubs (27% of those participating) were able to field more than a single team of four entrants. Two clubs (Cray Valley RS and Norfolk ARC) were able to enter four teams in some sessions, with the latter fielding a total of 26 different callsigns across all the events.

In the Local Club category the leading entrant for the seventh consecutive year and winner of the Hadley Wood Contest Group Trophy is Camb-Hams with 7980 points (1.6% up on last year's score), remarkably winning all eight sessions. Second place is taken by Grimsby ARS (who have taken second place for five consecutive years) and third place by Chesham & DARS, up one place from last year.

In the General Club category the leading entrant for the third consecutive year is Addiscombe ARC with 7063 (1.3% up on last year's score). In second place is Harwell ARS (who also took second place last year) and in third place Weekend CG (also third last year).

Certificates are listed below. In addition to the three place certificates in each section, Certificates of Achievement are awarded to eight clubs (six in the Local Club category and two in the General Club category) which were able to field stations in each of the eight qualifying AFS contests and also gained 250 or more Super League Points (SLPs) in each. A further six clubs entered all eight sessions but were not able to gain the necessary SLPs.

Congratulations to those gaining awards, and thanks to all participating Affiliated Societies and individual entrants - including those who didn't make it into their club's 'top teams': their entries are important too!
