    OTHER UK VHF/UHF CONTESTS IN NOVEMBER 2015 (by John G3XDY)

    The UK Microwave Group 1.3/2.3/3.4GHz Contest is held on Sunday 15th November from 1000 - 1400 UTC. The full UK Microwave Group contest calendar can be found here.


    Following a successful pilot last year, the UK Six Meter Group (UKSMG) will be running a 6 Metre Winter Contest this year. Its aim is to promote activity during the winter months:
    * the contest is a Marathon style event and will be held over a 2 months period commencing the first day in December and ending on the last day in January (00:00z on 1st December to 00:00z on 31st January)
    * there is no contest exchange, however the normal QSO data must be recorded e.g. Date of QSO, Time of QSO (on/off or both), Callsign of station worked, 4 digit locator of station worked (6 digit locator accepted, but your score will be based on the first 4 digits), QSO frequency in Megahertz, RS(T) Sent and RS(T) received
    * scoring to be 1 point awarded per unique 4 digit locator worked
    * logs to be submitted via the UKSMG website in ADIF format. These can be submitted in real time throughout the event, or in total after the contest end, but before the submission cut off date.

    OTHER EUROPEAN VHF/UHF CONTESTS IN NOVEMBER 2015 (by John G3XDY & Quin G3WRR)

    Thanks to Alex IV3KKW for forwarding the rules for the Marconi Memorial CW contest, which follow below between the START and FINISH labels:

    START

    L' A.R.I. (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani) is proud to invite all I.A.R.U. Region 1 Societies to take part to :

    43rd Marconi Memorial Contest VHF
    IARU Region 1
    November 7th - 8th 2015 (14 :00 - 14 :00 UTC)


    The Contest has been organised by A.R.I. to commemorate,as a Man and as a Scientist, GUGLIELMO MARCONI.

    1) PARTICIPANTS: All radio amateurs with regular permit to transmit. Participants have to operate in compliance with the rules and the spirit of the contest using an output power not greater than that permitted by their country license.

    2) SECTIONS: There are 4 categories :

    * Section SINGLE: stations operated by a single operator, with no operational assistance of another person during the contest.
    * Section MULTI: stations operated by a multiple operators.
    * Section 6 HOURS SINGLE: stations operated by a single operator, with no operational assistance of another person during the contest.
    * Section 6 HOURS MULTI: stations operated by a multiple operators.


    6 HOURS section time rule:

    the 6 hours time segment can be divided into maximum two periods. The time of the first QSO sets the start time of the first period. The pause between the two periods must be longer than 2 hours. The first time difference of 2 hours or more between two consecutive QSOs marks the pause segment. Only the QSOs that fall into the combined 6 hours time segment will be counted for points.

    A station must operate from the same site for all the contest time.

    3) CONTACTS: Each station can be worked only once. The double qso must be marked and identified on the log and the score awarded will be zero. Contacts made via repeaters or EME will not be considered as valid.

    4) BAND and MODE: QSO must be only 2-way on A1A (CW) mode on 144 MHz band only, respecting the IARU Reg. 1 Band Plan.

    5) EXCHANGES: The stations have to send the RST and Serial Number starting with 001, followed by the full WWL locator (Example: 599023 JN54QL.)

    6) SCORE: One point will be charged for each kilometer in the qrb of the qso.. The final score obtained with the sum of each qso score should be indicated in your log entry.

    7) LOG: Logs will be accepted only in electronic format. The logs must be submitted with all complete data summaries, by email, only in .EDI format, and the file must be named with your callsign (eg. IZ4YDN.EDI)

    8) ENTRIES : Logs must be sent only to the National VHF Manager or National VHF Contest Manager not later than the second Monday following the contest weekend (November 16th ). Late entries will not be accepted. The submission of the logs implies that the entrant accepts all the IARU contest rules.

    Photos, comments and remarks about the contest will be appreciated and they will be published on internet and magazines.

    All national managers have to send all collected logs to mmc.vhf@gmail.com not later than 7th Monday after contest date (December 21st 2015).

    9) JUDGING OF ENTRIES : The judging of entries is carried out by the MMC Contest Committee, whose decision shall be final, participants can ask information about errors. Entrants deliberately contravening any of the rules disregarding the IARU Region 1 band plans shall be disqualified. Errors in the callsign and contest exchanges or with a delay time more than 10minutes will be penalized by reducing the score claimed for the pertaining contact.

    10) FINAL CLASSIFICATIONS :The Committee will perform full computer cross checks on all the received logs and will publish the final results not later than the fourteenth Sunday after the contest on their web site (February 14th 2016).

    A List of received logs (with callsign and category) will be published on ARI Bologna web-site at the end of January. The list of results should include at least the following data: Callsign, Locator, Score, number of QSOs, number of deleted QSOs, percentage of deleted points, ODX call sign, ODX Locator and ODX QRB.

    ARI Bologna will publish the official results on their web site and send the results to the ARI VHF Manager to send to Webmaster of the IARU Region I web site for publication. These results shall also be sent in electronic format to all VHF Managers and/or Contest Committees of Societies who sent logs and also to the Chairman of Region 1 VHF/UHF/Microwave Committee, not later five months after the contest took place (April 8h 2016).

    11) AWARDS : The 3 (three) top scores of each section will be prized " MARCONI PLATE" by ARI Bologna.

    12) PRIZING CERIMONY : The prizes will be given to the winners during HamRadio Messe in Friedrichshafen (D) at ARI Official Booth on Saturday June 25th 2016 at 13:00 .
