    GR2HQ Challenge

Hello all HF Contesters from the UK and around the world.

Over the weekend of 12/13th July, the IARU HF Championship contest will take place.

Many of you may already have plans to spend some time on the bands and put in an entry to this contest.

For those of you that aren't so familiar with it, this is a 24-hour contest involving both SSB and CW across the six contest bands, 10m to 160m.

It has a unique “HQ section”, where Headquarters Stations represent their countries and compete against each other.

The RSGB’s team in this section will have a network of about a dozen stations around the UK and islands, all simultaneously using the callsign GR2HQ.

In recent years, the GR2HQ team have improved their overall scores, getting closer than ever in the results to the leading teams from Germany and France.

    In 2024 we achieved
Second place behind the German team, but complacency is not tolerated and we continue to try to improve our performance.

To help us do just that, the RSGB Contest Committee is organising the GR2HQ Challenge, to encourage individual stations to work the GR2HQ stations during the IARU HF Championship on each of the twelve band-mode slots.

And this is where we need your help ...

Each station entering the GR2HQ Challenge scores points for working GR2HQ on each band-mode slot, according to the points allocation table below.
Certificates of Achievement will be available for all stations, and those stations achieving high scores will receive Certificates of Merit.

In addition, clubs and other teams are invited to enter the Teams Competition, with their final team score being the aggregate of the individual scores of all their team members.
Your contribution in working GR2HQ, on as many band-mode slots as possible in the Challenge, will make an important difference to the GR2HQ aggregate score.

But in addition, encouraging other members of your local club or your contest team to take part and enter the Teams Competition will further make your contribution more significant.

Spotting the GR2HQ stations is more important than ever, so after you've worked each of our stations, please do spot them on your favourite cluster.

The Rules for the GR2HQ Challenge are at https://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2025/gr2hq.shtml

You will notice that you do not need to upload a log this year – you just need to go to the GR2HQ Registration webpage to confirm that you want to be included in the challenge, any time between now and up to five days after the contest has finished.

The RSGB Adjudicator will find your QSOs in the GR2HQ log and will allocate your points. It couldn't be simpler!

So please do set aside some time over the weekend of 12/13th July to take part in the IARU contest, and most importantly make QSOs with GR2HQ on as many bands and both
    modes as possible.

The GR2HQ team is looking forward to working you in the IARU HF Championship contest.
